Checklists & Documents

What You'll Need And Why

Preparing properly reduces delays, stress, and avoidable rework.

Below is a clear list of documents typically required as part of a Start Up Loan application.

You do not need everything on day one.

We help you build this step by step.

Core Documents

Business Plan

Cash Flow Forecast

Cash Flow Forecast

What you’re doing, who it’s for, and how it works.

A clear explanation of what you’re offering, who it’s for, how customers will find you and how the business will operate day to day.

Cash Flow Forecast

Cash Flow Forecast

Cash Flow Forecast

How money moves in and out of the business.

Shows how money is expected to move in and out of the business, including, income, costs, loan funding, repayments and owner drawings.

Tip: This must align with your business plan not contradict it.

Sales Assumptions

Cash Flow Forecast

Personal Survival Budget

When applying for a Start Up Loan, assessors are not looking for big numbers or ambitious forecasts.

They are looking for clear, explainable assumptions that link your plan, your forecast, and your evidence together.

At Female Founder Finance, we help you understand what this means in practice,  so you don’t feel pressure to overstate what’s possible.

Personal Survival Budget

Loan Purpose and Evidence

Personal Survival Budget

Your personal income and household costs. Start Up Loans assess personal affordability, not just the business.

A breakdown of personal income, household costs and existing      commitments.

This helps assess whether repayments would be manageable.

Loan Purpose and Evidence

Loan Purpose and Evidence

Loan Purpose and Evidence

You will need to show what the loan would be used for. A clear list of what you intend to spend the loan on and quotes or cost breakdowns for larger items (e.g. equipment, vehicles, setup costs).

Estimates are not always sufficient -  evidence matters.

Personal Bank Statements

Loan Purpose and Evidence

Loan Purpose and Evidence

Usually the most recent 3 months showing income, outgoings and existing      financial commitments.

Important: Statements should broadly reflect what’s shown in your personal budget.

Proof of ID and Residency

Proof of ID and Residency

Proof of ID and Residency

Proof of Identity
(e.g. passport or driving licence)

Proof of Address
(e.g. utility bill or bank statement)

Right to Work in the UK
If applicable

You don’t need to go through this alone.

Female Founder Finance helps you understand what’s missing, align documents properly and decide whether now is the right time to apply.

Do not apply before completing the readiness assessment

Readiness Assessment

Why Consistency Matters

Once an application is submitted, opportunities to correct or clarify information are limited, so resolving inconsistencies beforehand is essential.

Your:

  • business plan
  • cashflow forecast
  • sales assumptions
  • personal survival budget

Must all tell the same story.

We help you align them before anything is submitted.

Document Consistency Guide

How the business makes money

  •  The business plan explains how revenue is generated
  • The cashflow forecast shows when and how much
  • Assumptions are stated clearly, not implied

What the loan is used for

  • The loan purpose list explains what you’re spending money on
  • Quotes or evidence support those costs
  • The cashflow shows those costs at the right time

Personal affordability

  • Your personal survival budget shows your household costs
  • Your bank statements broadly support those figures
  • Your cashflow shows drawings that match your personal needs

Common inconsistency issues (and why they matter)

  • Multiple versions of the same document
  • Costs listed in forecasts but not explained elsewhere
  • Drawings shown in forecasts but missing from personal budgets
  • Loan funding shown twice or at the wrong time
  • Statements showing commitments not declared elsewhere

These issues don’t mean rejection, but they do stop assessment until resolved.

How Female Founder Finance helps

We help you:

  • identify where documents don’t align
  • decide which version is the correct one
  • resolve gaps before anything is submitted

This reduces stress, delays, and repeated questions later.

Consistency is not about perfection. It’s about clarity.
